Open Letter to Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk: Shoot the Gravity Cannon

by James Carter

Dear, Jeff and Elon,

I need your help on a fantastic new project and you two are perhaps the only individuals in the whole world who would be capable of carrying out this simple and inexpensive scientific experiment. This is not about money. I do not need money. The cost of the equipment needed for this scientific test would be minimal. Just a few thousand dollars. I could make a large Gravity Cannon myself. It only has two moving parts. However, my problem is my Gravity Cannon can only be safely fired from outer space. The reason I am coming to you is because as far as I know, you two are the only two people on this planet who can jump into their own private spaceship and say to the captain, "Take me up Scotty". Not only would you be helping me establish the scientific Principle of Gravitational Momentum but I am offering you the chance for prominent position in the History of Science.

History's First Gravity Experiment

The principle behind the Gravity Cannon measurement is a very old idea. It was first conceived by the genius of Galileo in the first part of the 17th Century. It is unfortunate that for this idea and other similar ideas, Galileo was imprisoned for the rest of his life by the powers that be at the time. It was Galileo's very impractical idea to drill a hole through the center of the Earth. Say from Borneo to Ecuador. Once the hole was dug, he would drop a cannon ball into one end to see what would happen.

Galileo was the first great experimental physicist but for obvious reasons, this important gravitational test was never performed by him or anyone else. The best he could do was to drop a musket ball and a cannonball from the Tower of Pisa. In this experiment he discovered that the balls didn't move and the Earth falls up! My idea for the Gravity Cannon is just a greatly scaled down version of Galileo's original thought experiment.

Aside from a few geological problems, Galileo's experiment would have worked quite well because Earth is floating in outer space and is not subject to outside inertial forces. Just like Galileo's experiment, you must only shoot the Gravity Cannon while it is freely floating in outer space. The major problem with shooting a Gravity Cannon is not technical, financial, or practical. Just as it was in Galileo's day, today the idea of Gravity Cannon is very Politically Incorrect! Today, people are no longer imprisoned for espousing Galileo's ideas but they are instead shunned by the scientific established as crackpots.

The most serious problem involved with shooting a Gravity Cannon is that it will either prove the major elements of Einstein's Relativity theories to be correct or it will show them to be decisively false. The current scientific establishment is willing to spend billions of dollars to verify some minor aspect of the relativity theories but will not permit any experiments designed to disprove relativity.

Over the years, I have tried to get NASA interested in shooting a Gravity Cannon since the International Space Station would be an ideal place to perform such experiments. However, I have never received any positive response. I have also tried to interest university professors and even senators in my project. From all of my negative responses, I have learned that in the Government and particularly in universities it is very politically incorrect to suggest that Einstein's theories might be wrong. It is falsely believed by most theoretical and experimental physicists that both the Special and General Relativity energy theories have been validated over and over again by any number of scientific tests. However, this is only true if you first believe the Equivalence Principle to be valid and then believe that an exchange of gravitational momentum cannot be measured with an accelerometer. Special Relativity can only be true if you first believe the photon has no mass.

These are both metaphysical assumptions that have never been verified by any experimental measurements. It is believed that lack of verification somehow proves the theories. Theorists imagine the measured acceleration of gravity does not produce momentum and that the linear and angular momentum of photons are measurements of "energy" but not mass. To make their theories work, Relativity Theorists must take the measurement principles of Experimental Physicists and turn them up-side down, backwards, and inside-out.

You two are the only people capable of carrying out this request. You are both unique in that you are the only private individuals I know of who have access to spacecraft that can travel up into outer space away from the measured deceleration of Earth's gravity. You would thus be able shoot a Gravity Cannon and either prove Einstein's General Relativity theory once and for all or shoot it down permanently. The Gravity Cannon could also be used to accurately measure the gravitational constant, regardless of which theory turns out to be true.

I need someone to shoot a Gravity Cannon in outer space. This will decisively determine whether my measured principle of gravitational momentum is valid or whether Einstein's opposite upside-down theory of gravitational energy is correct. These two theories of gravity will produce opposite effects in a Gravity Cannon experiment. If Einstein's gravitational energy field theory is correct, the ball will continually move back and forth from one side of the cannon barrel to the other. If the principle of decelerating gravitational momentum is correct, the gold ball will decelerate to the center of the glass sphere and come to a virtual stop.

Shooting the Gravity Cannon could easily become a worldwide media event. Live videos of the first Gravity Cannon shot could be broadcast worldwide and everyone with a TV, cell phone, or computer could watch the experiment simultaneously. It is an easily understood experiment that would only need to be observed for a few minutes to determine its outcome. It would unite the people of Earth with a knowledge and understanding of the only area of science that everyone is intimately familiar with. Everyone has been constantly interacting with the force of gravity on a second by second basis from the day they were born.

Unlike all other areas of science and technology, the physical force of gravity is completely understood by everyone on both a conscious and unconscious level. Even if we ignore gravity with our conscious minds, our subconscious minds are constantly monitoring the force of gravity on a second by second basis. Theorists use Einstein's equivalence "principle" to claim that the measured acceleration (S/T2) of gravity does not produce any change in a body's momentum (MS/T). In contrast to this claim by theorists, in all of non-gravitational physics, a measurement of acceleration (F = MS/T2) is always the result of an absolute change in a body's momentum (p = MS/T) relative to inertial and rotational space (V2). Einstein offers no physical reason as to why his reversal of Accelerometer Physics is necessary except to validate his imaginary and unmeasurable Equivalence Principle.

The mechanics of all physical measurements of gravity are very simple and exact. They are all measurements of either deceleration or acceleration on a vector relative to Earth's center. In most cases, it is impossible for an accelerometer reading to determine between absolute deceleration/acceleration relative to Zero Momentum Rest as most measurements are combinations of both. At Earth's surface this is exactly so. However, at positions away from Earth's surface, the measured acceleration of gravity is always calculated as deceleration. All accelerometer measurements involve equal and opposite transfers of momentum between two bodies. However, accelerometers are only capable of measuring a single change in momentum relative to the point of interaction. At Earth's surface there is no way to determine between deceleration and acceleration because they both have the same calculated measurement. The exception to this is that for large changes in velocity, the Lorentz Transformation of Mass, Space, and Time can be used to determine absolute motion relative to speed of light. For example at one-half the speed of light a body's mass will increase by about 12% and clocks will slow by the same amount.

On Earth, there is no way to determine the difference between gravitational force and inertial force. However in outer space, the difference between gravitational force and inertial force is easily defined and determined with a measuring device called a Gravity Cannon. This simple devise with only two moving parts can easily determine the difference between gravitational force and inertial force and in the process make a definitive evaluation for the validity for Einstein's General Relativity gravitational energy theory. The Gravity Cannon test results could be compared with the Pound/Rebka measurements to compare Einstein's calculations of gravitational energy with my physical accelerometer measurements of absolute 3-dimensional gravitational momentum.

Whoever is first to shoot the Gravity Cannon will go down in history as the Philosopher Scientist who made the definitive experimental measurement to determine the true nature of the Gravitational Interaction. The cannon's first shot will shoot down the Equivalence Principle and the theory of General Relativity along with it.

The second shot will fuse 3-Dimensional Gravitational Momentum with 1 & 2-Dimensional Photon Momentum and reduce the 3 dimensions of kinetic energy (Linear energy, rotational energy, and gravitational energy) to calculations of conserved Momentum. Momentum is all that there is and all that will ever be. People use the Idea of Force (F = MS/T2) and Energy (e = 1/2MS/T2) only as a way to perceive dual transfers of momentum (p = MS/T). Energy is just a relative measurement quantifying 1-Dimensional momentum, 2-Dimensional Angular Momentum, and 3-Dimensional Gravitational Momentum.

The Gravity Cannon Will Make History

Shooting the Gravity Cannon in outer space could well become the most important physical experiment in the history of experimental physics. At the very least, it will be compared with the other great and revealing scientific experiments such as the measurement of absolute photon motion with the Michelson/Morley Interferometer, Pound and Rebka's using the Mossbauer Photons to measure the direction of Gravitational Momentum and Galileo's dropping balls from the Tower of Pisa as well as his observations of pendulums.

The beauty of the Pound/Rebka experiment is that it combined, compared, and separated the momentum, force, and energy of gravity with the momentum, force, and energy of photons. The experiment measured the difference between inertial momentum, photon linear momentum, and Earth's gravitational momentum to an accuracy of 15 orders of magnitude.

Photon Momentum = 1.0000000000000000 MS/T
Gravitational Momentum = .00000000000000025 MS/T

The Pound-Rebka Experiment clearly documented the deceleration of upward gravitational momentum, but Einstein's General Relativity supporters made the opposite claim that Earth's surface has zero momentum and that a photon's energy, force, and momentum increase as it "falls" through Earth's gravitational field (4-Dimensional Spacetime Continuum). Whereas the deceleration of Gravitational Momentum is verified by simple accelerometer measurements, Einstein's 4-dimensional spacetime curving energy theory requires a metaphysical assumption for the existence an otherwise unmeasurable accelerating gravitational continuum "field". The Gravity Cannon will be the ultimate test to decide between the measurement of absolute gravitational momentum and Einstein's calculations of relative gravitational energy.

If Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk do not send their spaceships into outer space to shoot the Gravity Cannon, they will have far different places in history. They will not be remembered as the famous experimental physicists who solved the age old mystery of gravity. A couple hundred years from now Jeff will be remembered as a student who studied theoretical physics in college but gave it up and later made a fortune selling mail order books.

Elon might be remembered as a man who built a rocket ship powered by a very large Carbon-14 diamond. When he was very old, near the end of the 21st Century, he got into his spaceship and headed to Mars to die on the planet he helped to colonize. He was never heard from again but it was rumored that when he got to Mars, he aimed his ship to towards Alpha Centauri and set out on a thousand year journey to be the first reach to reach our nearest star. If either one or both decide to shoot the Gravity Cannon in outer space, they will go down in history as the scientists who, once and for all, solved the eternal mystery surrounding the Force and Momentum of gravity.
